MCBA Young Lawyers Friday Buzz - Member Spotlight -Katerina Kramarchyk

If you have been to enough Young Lawyer Sections events, there may come a time in casual conversation when the term "Renaissance Man" is bandied about. We'd like to introduce you the Young Lawyers Section "Renaissance Woman" Katerina Kramarchyk. This 2013 Albany Law School graduate and Albany native is as much at home on the kickball field as she is in the company of a great book or great friends. Katerina actively strikes the balance between hard work, hard play, and civic duty that helps set the Young Lawyers Section apart.

As an associate at Woods, Oviatt, Gilman, LLP, Katerina concentrates her practice on foreclosures representing creditors and servicers throughout New York State. As an associate of Woods, Oviatt, Gilman, Katerina has been inspired by the compassion and sensitivity her colleagues employ on a daily basis with individualized attention to each case. Katerina has been especially inspired by Woods partners Natalie Grigg and Lorisa LaRocca, who daily demonstrate the high level of professionalism and sense of civic duty she aspires to.

Outside of work, Katerina has found the Rochester legal community to be vibrant and inviting. Although new to the area, Katerina has found time to blend old interests with new. Always one to be active, Katerina regularly plays kickball with her friends in the Young Lawyers Section, and has recently been selected as captain of the Woods, Oviatt, Gilman softball team.

When not playing kickball with her fellow young lawyers, Katerina enjoys combining her love of reading with the company of good friends. She and Heather McKay of Woods, Oviatt, Gilman started an informal book club for just these reasons. Recently, they finished reading A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Eagan. The club is always prepared to welcome new members, who can contact Katerina directly at kmkramarchyk@gmail.com.

Katerina is dedicated to community service. If there is a service event searching for volunteers, Katerina is likely to be the first to sign up. Recently, Katerina has been the mentor to a first grade student in Rochester's School 29 where she has fostered a strong bond in an experience which has been fulfilling to both mentor and mentee.

Katerina's favorite parts about the YLS are the annual newly admitted attorney's Amerks game and the Silent Auction to Benefit Rochester's Teen Court. At the 2014 Silent Auction, Katerina met many new people who were as motivated to participate in public service as she is. Given her active lifestyle and commitment to her new home, Katerina wouldn't rule out an opportunity to segue into elected office to make an even larger positive impact.
