Harry P. Messina, Jr. is a partner in the firm's Business & Finance Department. For more than forty years, he has concentrated his practice in business planning and structuring for formation, financing, growth, acquisition or divestiture and family succession. He is also experienced in the areas of private placements, registered public offerings and securities laws compliance.

Mr. Messina received his LL.B. degree from Cornell University Law School and his A.B. degree from University of Rochester.

Representative Matters:

  • Represented manufacturers of steel rolls, plastics, fire trucks, radios, aircraft instruments, synchronized time and frequency products, motion control products, shoes and apparel, printing, optical instruments and scheduling products.
  • Represented service providers of telecommunications, payroll human resources, employment, career training, medical, food testing, advertising, and records management services.
  • Represented retailers/distributors of automobiles, food products, beverages, power transmission equipment, environmental control systems.

Community Involvement:

Mr. Messina is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rochester Management, Inc. He is a member of the Advisory Council of M & T Bank and is a former director of Central Trust Company. In addition, he has chaired the Model Business Plan Committee of High Technology of Rochester, Inc. He has also served as an officer or director of several charitable or community organizations, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Catholic Family Center, St. Joseph's Villa, Rochester Flying Club, the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar, Flower City Habitat and the Board of Managers of Eastman School of Music. Mr. Messina is a former director and counsel to Paychex, Inc.

Mr. Messina is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Professional Affiliations:

Mr. Messina is a member of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations and is also a member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Other:

Mr. Messina lectures at the University of Rochester, Cornell University and Alfred University on topics concerning the legal aspects of structuring and financing growth companies. He is listed in the current edition of "The Best Lawyers in America".
